USA: Let’s be straight forward here — the U.S. have been below average in two of the three group stage games. They just lack cohesion, they struggle to create and just need more time together. Against Jamaica, they’ll face their toughest meeting yet of the competition. While favored, the Americans need to clean it up a bit at the back. Too often they allow teams a chance to get back into it with sloppy play, and Jamaica have the quality to pull this one off. Expect the match to be open, for the U.S. to get their chances but for it not to be decided until late … or possibly even in penalty kicks.
Jamaica: They’ll feel like they got a bad draw against the U.S., knowing they had a good shot at beating Costa Rica. They outplayed Los Ticos for much of the match and conceded on the only shot on goal they surrendered. With 18 shots in attack to Costa Rica’s five, this unit continued to delivery quality chances. Expect Leon Bailey to shift back into the starting XI and for the Jamaicans to get some really solid looks. If Andre Blake can be his usual self in goal, they’ll be in it late.
It’s another close one for the U.S., with Daryl Dike firing home the winner with a thumping second-half header. Pick: USA 2, Jamaica 1
