As the investigation continues in the Ladd Stadium shooting, many questions continue to arise- including who is the blame for the suspects being able to enter the stadium with a weapon.

The Mobile Police Department, The Mobile County Public School System, and the Ladd Stadium Board all play a part in the operation of the stadium when it comes to high schools using the facility.

Man Tased by Crestview police during welfare check dies the next day

CRESTVIEW, Fla. (WKRG) — A Crestview man died after being Tased by police officers during a welfare check.

At about 2:45 a.m. on Oct. 14, Crestview police received a phone call from a concerned citizen about a disturbance on the 300 block of Hospital Drive. The caller told 911 dispatchers they heard a person screaming “stop, please stop.” When officers arrived, they made contact with 40-year-old Calvin Wilks Jr. of Crestview. Police say initially Wilks was cooperative with officers and agreed to step outside of the residence to speak with police. Officers say they waited for about five minutes until Wilks returned to the door in what they describe as being in a “highly agitated state.”

Mobile Mayor on Ladd shooting: Continuing trend of violence must stop

MOBILE, Ala. (WKRG) — Mobile Mayor Sandy Stimpson says the continuing trend of violence in the city must be stopped, specifically noting violence among young people

On Friday, Oct. 15, shots were fired at Ladd-Peebles Stadium during a football game between Vigor High School and Williamson High School. Five people were injured. 19-year-old Jai Montrell Scott turned himself in to police and was charged with five counts of attempted murder on Saturday, Oct. 16. On Monday, Oct. 18, a 17-year-old juvenile was arrested and also charged with five counts of attempted murder. As of Monday, Oct. 18, police are searching for a third suspect, identified as Hezekiah Kaniel Belfon, in connection to the shooting.
