FedEx, the world’s largest express transportation company, is reinforcing its commitment to Latin America’s economic growth and connectivity. By adding two new flights, FedEx enhances its air network, linking key markets in South and Central America with Miami, bringing expanded capacity and improved connectivity for customers across the region.
“The launch of these new routes marks a significant milestone in the history and growth strategy of FedEx across the region,” said Luiz R. Vasconcelos, President of FedEx in Latin America and the Caribbean. “These flights are part of the ongoing air network redesign, aimed at better serving customers of all sizes by providing direct connectivity with the Americas and the world.”
FedEx has launched a new air route in South America, enhancing connectivity for businesses across the continent. A FedEx Boeing 767-300 now operates multiple weekly flights connecting Ezeiza International Airport in Buenos Aires, Santiago International Airport in Chile, and Mariscal Sucre International Airport in Quito directly with Miami International Airport. In Central America, a FedEx Boeing 757 provides frequent, direct service from Guatemala’s La Aurora International Airport and Ramon Villeda Morales International Airport in San Pedro Sula, Honduras, to Miami.
This expanded network allows FedEx to establish a direct commercial presence in Honduras and Ecuador, positioning the company closer to customers and their international shipping needs. The new routes are expected to support various industries, including flowers, coffee, cacao, seeds, high-tech products, textiles, and automotive goods—sectors that are gaining substantial traction in global markets.
Miami International Airport, the primary hub for these routes, stands as one of the top three cargo airports in the United States and serves as a crucial link for trade throughout the Americas. The FedEx Hub at Miami is equipped to handle high volumes of cargo with specialized logistics infrastructure. Notably, the Miami hub boasts the largest cold storage facility in FedEx’s global network, delivering robust logistics and cold chain capabilities that benefit temperature-sensitive shipments.
By strengthening its South and Central American air routes, FedEx reinforces its commitment to supporting regional economic growth and providing reliable, direct connections for businesses expanding into international markets.
