Gaêlica at the Doral Yard

When you think of fusing Celtic and Latin music, the first thing that probably crosses your mind is that there’s no way in hell that’s going to work. But when you think about it, Celtic and Latin (especially the many subgenres within the latter) are both based on folkloric traditions. Gaêlica seems to have recognized that sooner than most, judging by the quintet’s fusion Celtic sounds with flamenco, tango, and Afro-Latin beats. Still not convinced? Check out the band when it takes the stage at the Backyard at the Doral Yard on Saturday. 8 p.m. Saturday, September 4, at the Doral Yard, 8455 NW 53rd St., Doral; 305-744-5038; thedoralyard.com. Admission is free.
