Arizona softball: press conference with Mike Candrea – All Sports Tucson

After sweeping the Fayetteville Super Regional against No. 6 Arkansas, No. 11 Arizona (41-13) is moving on to the program’s 24th Women’s College World Series appearance.

The Wildcats will face No. 3 Alabama (50-7) on Thursday at 4 p.m. local time on ESPN.

Arizona was supposed to face the Crimson Tide in the Texas Classic to open the season before the games were canceled due to inclement weather that caused the invitational to be canceled.

Mike Candrea‘s team has faced Alabama four times since the 2019 season. The two teams have split the four games, with the Wildcats winning the last two games on the road in Tuscaloosa during the shortened 2020 season.

Although Arizona has won the last two matchups, Alabama is the team that knocked the Wildcats out of the 2019 WCWS in a 2-0 pitcher’s duel.

Here are Jessie Harper and Carlie Scupin talking about the excitement level of the team to play in the WCWS and discussing the game against Alabama:
