1. A South Florida man who burned tired marks into an LGBT street mural in June is now required to write a 25-page essay about the Pulse night club shooting in Orlando before his sentencing, according to Palm Beach County court documents. 20-year-old Alexander Jerich of Lake Worth pleaded guilty to felony criminal mischief and misdemeanor reckless driving. (Miami Patch)
2. A tip from a citizen led to the arrest of a suspect in connection with a Miami bank robbery earlier this month, FBI officials said Wednesday. 38-year-old Hakeen Ashon Mixson was arrested by Hialeah Police Tuesday for his involvement in the April 15 robbery of a Space Coast Credit Union on Southwest 117th Avenue, officials said. 3. Several Miami-Dade high school students in tough economic situations were recently selected by their school to visit the “Prom Boutique,” which is filled with brand new dresses, suits, shoes, and makeup. The district also offers students support through “The Shop,” which is open five days a week by appointment. The Shop offers free non-perishable food, brand new clothes, electric cooking appliances, school supplies, and more. (CBS Miami)
4. Brightline’s Miami To Orlando rail project just passed another construction milestone, the company told investors last week. According to an investor brief, construction crews have now completed 75% of the work on the route. The $2.8 billion project remains on schedule for substantial completion in late 2022. 5. Miami’s Downtown Development Authority has approved funding three companies that would relocate to Miami and provide high-paying jobs. Two companies would receive grants from the authority of up to $50,000 yearly over three years under requirements of the Follow the Sun campaign, implemented in the fall of 2020, which incentivizes companies to relocate to Miami’s downtown area and provide at least 10 jobs with a minimum salary of $68,000 a year. - Police arrested 26-year-old Andre Paul-Noel III, now charged with second-degree murder and burglary just days after police said 32-year-old Edwin Molina was shot and killed. (WSVN)
- The FBI announced Wednesday that it is offering a reward of up to $10,000 for information that leads to the identification, arrest and conviction of the person or people responsible for the fatal shooting of a 16-month-old boy. The toddler was shot around 6 p.m. April 7 in the area of 916 Fourth St. in West Palm Beach. (WPLG Local 10)
