1. Two juvenile scalloped hammerheads and one adult silky shark belonging to Frost Science Museum died in captivity of various causes. Both species are globally endangered or threatened by overfishing and shark-fin trade. (Miami New Times)

2. Alejandro Crocker launched a sustainable fashion line in Doral with the Coral Gables Woman’s Club. Crocker is currently based in Colombia and has lived in Miami in the past and participated in fashion shows throughout the United States, including Miami Fashion Week. (Miami’s Community News)

3. Members of the Miami-Dade Airports and Economic Development Committee argued for more time to analyze the proposal by Commissioner Raquel Regalado for building a patented “Vertically Integrated Cargo Community” (VICC) at no cost to the county. Commissioner Jean Monestime criticized the measure to proceed without a competition. (Miami Today)

4. Lady Luck: Juliana Pavon of Weston won a $1 million prize from the $5,000,000 LUCK Scratch-Off game. She chose to receive her winnings as a one-time, lump-sum payment of $760,000.00. It is the third time in a week someone in South Florida won a $1 million prize. Pavon purchased her winning ticket from a Publix at 4567 Weston Road. (CBS Miami)

5. DemeTECH in Miami Lakes welcomes news that the CDC is now promoting N95 masks as safer for those at risk. The company argues that mixed messaging about masks and the government’s failure to support American mask manufacturers has made demand challenging. (NBC Miami)
